I can't beat the pictures from yesterday, so I won't try. We traveled about 7 hrs today. It was much windy than it was supposed to be. We had a great day and are at a free dock. Maybe for a couple of days. We have 2 other looper boats here. More tommorow.

Day 8 Atlantic City

Well the weather is still very windy today, will stay put. Lois and I spent the day walking around the city. It is at least 8 blocks to the ocean and the boardwalk. and we walked a good many blocks there and then back. This evening we went about 6 more blocks. The wind seems to be settling down so tommorow we will head up to Barnegate Inlet via the Intercoastal. Plan to anchor out and enjoy the view. Last night I took a few pictures from the docks here of the light show at the casinos across the way. We hope you enjoy them as much as we did.

Day 7

Well today was supposed to be rainy all day and windy, but turned out to be quite pleasant. Lois and I walked into the city and saw the Abescon Lighthouse which is in the picture. We then walked to the Aquarium and decided not to go in as it was small and 2 buses of school kids were just going in. We got Chineese for lunch and stopped at a convience store for eggs and a couple other things. When we got back it was so nice Lois decided to finish the last panel on the enclosure. I worked on some other little projects and when needed helped Lois. Grilled pork chops for supper. Life is good.

Pictures included are: Abescon Lighthouse, Lois doing paperwork and passing fishing vessel with the Water Club and Borgato Hotel Casino in the background. Great scenery for grilling. If the weather is favorable we will push north tommorow.

Day 6 - Cape May to Atlantic City, NJ

We ran the ICW today. We grounded one time just north of Cape May with a rising tide. Waited 15 minutes and was able to back out. No harm done. Rest of the trip very windy, 20 knots +. Traveled with 2 other boats for part of the way. 8 hours later we are across from Trumps Casino in a marina. Thats close enough for us. The wind is supposed to blow for 2 days and we will stay put for now. New jersey is very different along the ICW houses are built right on the waterway. Many have boathouses under the second story. Some people think it is some what like Venice. Lois and I will sleep well tonight.

Day 4 & 5

We spent the last 2 days resting and talking to boaters that are going both north and south. Those coming from the north gave us insight on what to expect on the intercoastal in NJ. Shallow and go with rising tide and 3 to 4 hours after high tide. We finished hooking up the new transducer for the dpth finder in the GPS yesterday. We have been checking out the local shops and had lunch yesterday at the Lobster House Rest., Very good! We can see the Coast Guard Station from the marina and the commercial fishing docks as well. Will start up the ditch (Intercoastal Waterway) tommorow.

Day three

We traveled to Cape May ,NJ today via the Delaware Bay. Nice ride, but about 8 hours. We were fortunate to have calm seas and made good time. Will spend 2 days here and get ready for the trip north to NYC. Hopefully the weatherman can find some warmer weather. The last couple of nights have been cool. We are parked next to a couple from Tenn. that are looping too.

Day Two

Waiting for a calm day to cross the Delaware Bay. Chesapeake City is very nice. We have been watching the ocean going vessels go by. This is a no Wake area and they obey the signs well. Here is one of the ships that have passed. It looks like the weather will be good for us on
Friday.

Stormy

It is raining and very gloomy looking this morning so we will wait it out for a better day to start. We still have a few little chores that can be done. Lois is felling much better this morning. She got a good nights sleep and seems to be back to normal. We will take advantage of having a car and go out for lunch and shopping. We are having some problems posting to our blog and sometimes are unable to go back and edit any thing. Once I add a picture that is it for that session. We found an error code and have contacted Blogger and are waiting for a fix.

Lois

Lois seems to be better now. Hasn't had any pain since luncha nd is eating and functioning as normal.

Departure Day (Oops!)

We closed the house and left for the boat on Thursday 5/15/08 and had Barb and family here on 5/16 and Becky and family on 5/17. Lois and I have been trying to get the bridge enclosure finished and I wanted to install a new safety net on the bridge railing. We got those projects finished with the help of Becky and Bobby. We planned to leave 5/19 and travel to Chesepeake City on the C&D Canal today. I awoke this morning to find that Lois had been up most of the night with kidney stone pain and we immediately decided to stay put one more day at least. As the day progressed the winds became stronger. We would have had a cold rough ride. We will try tomorrow if Lois is felling better

We are in the slip and ready to go
